Orion Richey is a Central Illinois Artist. In his early years, he was trained as a metalworker. In college, He studied art, philosophy, literature and business. He uses sculpture to explore, discover and express his creative insights on the spiral form, displaying Nature’s Life Force as a positive and uplifting design motif. His goal is to create uplifting, colorful, elegant and contemporary spiral sculptures to beautify our world.

Artist Statement

As a sculptor I am inspired by organic shapes and natural forms. The multi-arm spiral form is a composition of multiple spiral arms rotated around a center. My spiral designs are constructed and mapped using a variety of mathematical spiral concepts and artistically developed patterns. Using standard metalworking techniques and specially designed “hot working” tools and forges, I artfully design and fabricate multi-arm spiral/helical sculptures from steel plate. These are then powder coat painted with vibrant colors and mounted on unique “Art Technic” Bases for outdoor and indoor display.
