Darlene Jones
Darlene has always been creative from doodling in grade school, 4 years of art classes in high school, taking her camera everywhere and going on to achieve an associates degree in graphic design at Illinois Central College. Her employment includes: Magazine Art Director/Assistant Director, Freelance Artist, Production Artist, Photography Assistant, Florist Sales Floor Manager, Retail Merchandising, Retail Gift Buyer, Assistant Marketing Manager and Marketing Coordinator. All of her employment throughout the years has helped her stay creative in the workplace however freedom to do her own artwork was left behind. Many years later, she now fulfills that creative void in her studio at home and her studio at the Contemporary Art Center. She is a member of the Central Illinois Artists’ Organization (CIAO) and Illinois Art League.

Artist Statement
I work in a variety of mediums, including pen & ink, pencil, color pencil, marker, watercolor, acrylic and photography. Recently, I have been commissioned for pencil home portraits. My other subject interests are nature, flowers, wildlife and landscapes. “I love taking photographs and drawing what I see from those photos – Nature coming to life on canvas is so inspiring!”
