About the class:
This two-day workshop for intermediate/advanced watercolorists will introduce a technique using a resist to add textural interest to a watercolor painting.  Analogous colors are poured and moved about the paper over the resist which has dried in a web of abstract shapes providing a unique interpretation of the subject. The subject of this demo will be two poppies that dominate the entire paper surface as shown in the example above. Students will complete the workshop with a completed painting and a bottle of Pebeo liquid masking fluid.

CAC will provide:
300 lb Arches paper, mounting surfaces, staplers, tape, transfer paper and Pebeo liquid masking fluid.

Students will provide:
Assorted professional tube paints (Holbein, Windsor Newton, Daniel Smith etc.)
Assorted brushes
Flat mixing palette (flat tray, plastic plate, cooking sheet, etc.)
Paper towels
Kleenex
Large Water container
Spray bottle

Hair dryer

About the Instructor:
Kathy Sherman grew up surrounded by the pristine beauty of Northern Wisconsin. In her youth, she was exposed to art galleries, but it wasn’t until she married, became a mother and moved to Northern Illinois that she took her first watercolor class at Glen Oak Pavilion with NIU professor Win Jones. This began a journey leading to further instruction, teaching children and adults at ICC and many venues.
