Description: In three lessons, beginners can learn the basics of The Hustle, the dynamic and flashy dance craze originating in 1970 from NYC dance clubs like Studio 54. The foot-work of the dance is quite simple and the pattern structure is attainable relatively quickly. This makes The Hustle one of the top learned dances at studios in the United States. The moves of this partner dance can be applied to many types of music and is the fastest way to impress on the dance floor. The energetic dance style spawned Van McCoy’s hit song, The Hustle. The 1977 movie Saturday Night Fever also capitalized on the popularity of this dance.
About the instructor: Abraham Ghantous started a gym called Body Fitness, Inc. in February 1992 in Peoria. Since then it has grown to encompass fitness, personal training, health coaching, dance classes. They also hold parties and special events. The dance component was added in 1997 when Ghantous’ passion for dance emerged. He received formal dance instruction at Salsa y Pasión Studio in San Diego and locally by Ralph & Gail Pagan and Mandy Barrett. For 12 years he has taught Ballroom, Latin and Swing dance not only at Body Fitness but also at wedding receptions, birthday parties, fund raisers, local high schools and universities. He has performed at local dance showcases, fund raisers, on the air at WTVP and WEEK TV and competed several years at CASA Dancing with the Stars. His impromptu performances at the Drake Hotel in Chicago are a highlight.
