Inspired from Live Models

Area artists display work in the 3rd floor classroom created during or inspired by figure drawing sessions at CAC. From the start of the organization in 1996, we have offered the opportunity to local artists to study the human figure and create art from a live model. It is the only class that has consistently continued the entire time. Since the pandemic receded, the desire for such an experience has grown. A second weekly class began to be offered last year.

Currently, we offer two 8-week classes four times each year. On Tuesdays, there is an afternoon and evening 2 hour class. Models are hired to pose nude or clothed. There is no instruction as to how to draw. A monitor times the poses and manages the class. During a two-hour session, models pose for up to 50 minutes. Most drawings shown in the room where created in class in the last few years or begun in class or inspired by the experience.
