Cynthia Merrill: Scratching Through the Surface

Cynthia Merrill creates black & white ceramic vessels that, while functional, serve as a vehicle to portray stylized sea creatures on the surface. Once the forms are complete, they are covered in black slip that is then carved away to expose the white of the porcelain before being fired. Merrill recently opened a new ceramic business/studio on Farmington Road called Glazed and Confused Pottery offering classes and gifts.
