CIAO Artist Member Exhibition

July 23 (Friday) – Opening Reception. 6pm – 8pm at the McLean County Arts Center, 601 N. East St, Bloomington Il.

McLean County Arts Center Viewing Hours: Tuesday 10-7:00, Wednesday-Friday 10-to 5:00, Saturday noon-4:00

In this group exhibit, McLean County Arts Center hosts the artists enrolled in Contemporary Art Center of Peoria’s CIAO membership program. CIAO (Central Illinois Artists Organization) is the name of Contemporary Art Center’s Artist Membership Program offering promotion, education and exhibition opportunities. Each artist enrolled in the program is invited to display one piece in this exhibition. Any Central Illinois artist may enroll to participate in three exhibits each year, have a page on the CAC website directory and receive discounts.

For each exhibit, a qualified judge chooses monetary awards of distinction. For this exhibition, the judge is artist and art educator, Sarah Smelser. She has printed for The Printmaking Workshop, K. Caraccio Studio, New York, NY, and Normal Editions, Normal IL.  Sarah taught printmaking at Pasadena City College and West Virginia University and is currently Professor of Art, teaching intaglio printmaking, at Illinois State University in Normal, IL, She is a past president of the Mid-America Print Council. See her work at Sarah Smelser
