About the class:
Ken will teach some principles of watercolor in three evening sessions. The 1st evening, Ken will share a demo, insights on how to prepare the paper and how to sketch a drawing. There will be some work expected outside of class. In the following classes, Ken will lead the class in painting a landscape and a portrait. This class is for beginners but would benefit someone who is proficient also.
CAC will provide:
11” x 14” watercolor paper, brushes, paint, plastic white palates, drawing paper, metal rulers, hair dryers, masking tape, knife, paper towels, mounting board (homasote board with staples), water-soluble glue backed paper tape
Material List Fee: $25 for paper and paint
Cerulean Blue, Cobalt Blue, Cadmium Red, Cadmium Yellow, Naples Yellow, Cadmium Orange, Hooker’s Green, Cobalt Violet, Burnt Sienna, Raw Umber, Lamp Black, Paynes Grey, Opaque White
Students will provide:
HB drawing pencil
2 half gallon water containers
Optional:
students may waive the material fee by providing their own paints, brushes, paper, palate, mounting board and hair dryer. When registering, inform CAC staff if student will provide their own materials.
About the Instructor:
Ken Clubb was a freelance illustrator and a commercial artist working with pencils and watercolors. He has taught part-time in the graphic design department at Illinois Central College, including a class in watercolor painting. Portraits of the Alwan family that hang at Alwan & Sons Meat Co, billboards for Goodwill Industries and a mural painted on the wall of the cafeteria in Caterpillar Building KK in East Peoria are some of this more public works.
