The Contemporary Art Center is proud to show off the outstanding work of our area high school students. We appreciate all the organizational skills, hard work and initiative evident demonstrated in their participation. This year, 129 students from 9 area high schools submitted 172 pieces and 129 pieces are exhibited.\nThe exhibit is designed to simulate typical juried art exhibits in which artists typically pay fees of $25-60 to submit work that may not be chosen by the juror to be displayed. Each student may submit up to 2 pieces and pay a $1.00 fee for each artwork.\nThe annual exhibit was founded in 2004 by Executive Director William Butler and his former high school teacher Michael Hagenbuch, then newly retired from Limestone Community High School. Hagenbuch served as the first juror/judge and for some years after continued to volunteer in support of the exhibit.\nEvery year a retired high school art teacher is chosen to choose the work that will be displayed and awarded gift certificates. This year our Juror/Judge is Chuck Flagg, who taught art at IVC High School in Chillicothe for 38 years, as well as at Bradley, ICC and other places. He is a pinhole photography enthusiast heavily involved in two international pinhole photography organizations. A fulltime functional potter all his life, he continues to operate Flagg Pottery with his wife Patty since starting the business in 1975.\nOutstanding Achievement:\nThe Girl in the Yellow Wallpaper, Megan Rocke, Tremont High School\nGenesis, Bella Signore, Metamora Township High School\nThrough the Woods, Brandy Tennon, Tremont High School\nHonorable Mention:\nIncarcinisation, Ben Osborne, East Peoria Community High School\nHeartbroken, Tayla Eaves, Peoria Notre Dame\nMissed Memories, Ellie Deasey, Washington Community High School\nGone, Alexis Kalkbrenner, Peoria Regional Learning Center\nPocket Dragon, Ben Osborne, East Peoria Community Highschool\nAnxiety Always Finds Me, Kailynn Russell, East Peoria Community High School\nMerit:\nAdventures of a Stingray pt 2, Madilynn Heft, Washington Community High School\nUntitled, Milo Sergison, East Peoria Community High School\nStuck to the Eye, Morgan Viggers, Metamora Township High School\nThese Tranquil Waters, Cylas Lovin, East Peoria Community High School\nBoston Tea Party, Jenna Owens, Pekin Community High School\nSpider Web, Keeton Stephens, Dee-Mack High School\nApple of my Eye, Sabine Alig, Washington Community High School\nDarkness Reflects the Light, Bianca Wike, East Peoria Community High School\nNine Lives, Ten Birthdays, Ivye Johnson, East Peoria Community High School\nMexicans Are…, Thalia Padilla, Washington Community High School\nGrass, Thomas Graham, Peoria Notre Dame\nCan’t Catch Me, Rae Ann Elza, East Peoria Community High School\nDebt, Emmy Dutton, Tremont High School[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”2_5″ _builder_version=”4.16″ custom_padding=”|||” global_colors_info=”{}” custom_padding__hover=”|||”][et_pb_image src=”https://peoriacac.org/peoria_cac/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/2016-HS-Students_2666-panaramic.jpg” align=”center” align_tablet=”center” align_phone=”” align_last_edited=”on|desktop” _builder_version=”4.17.6″ max_width=”80%” custom_margin_tablet=”0px||||false|false” custom_margin_phone=”” custom_margin_last_edited=”on|desktop” animation_style=”zoom” animation_intensity_zoom=”5%” hover_enabled=”0″ border_width_all=”24px” border_color_all=”#ffffff” box_shadow_style=”preset3″ box_shadow_vertical=”20px” box_shadow_blur=”90px” box_shadow_color=”rgba(0,0,0,0.2)” global_colors_info=”{}” sticky_enabled=”0″][/et_pb_image][et_pb_button button_url=”@ET-DC@eyJkeW5hbWljIjp0cnVlLCJjb250ZW50IjoicG9zdF9saW5rX3VybF9hdHRhY2htZW50Iiwic2V0dGluZ3MiOnsicG9zdF9pZCI6IjU1MTQxIn19@” button_text=”Prospectus” button_alignment=”center” disabled_on=”off|off|off” _builder_version=”4.17.6″ _dynamic_attributes=”button_url” custom_button=”on” button_border_color=”#e02b20″ button_use_icon=”off” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_button][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]\n
