"The rural landscape provides a relentless challenge in my insufficient attempt to capture a notion." Steve Wilson
I grew up at the most perfect time. By 1960 I was six. Until I was in my teens my father always traveled old US and IL routes. For a time the Interstate didn’t exist. Both sides of my family are from rural areas of western Tennessee just an hour south of Nashville. We often traveled the old routes and through virtually every little town along the way between central and southern Illinois, western and central Kentucky, and western Tennessee. During these years the towns were vibrant and bustling. Life along these roads was really quite colorful.
I’m still traveling those old roads. Often it seems, looking for a moment. In an instant, all that emotion and all of my creative knowledge and experience fuse along with myriad considerations. They all come together at that place, at that moment, and within that frame. Each time I pick up my camera I learn something new about the camera and about the creative process but more importantly about me.
