At left: Hello Fear (self-portrait)
I am a life-long resident of Springfield, Illinois; married to Michael "John" and together we have one son, Micah, who you will see in many of my pieces. I work out of a small studio in my home, in the evenings and weekends, and work for the State of Illinois during the day.
My medium is graphite & charcoal, colored pencil and pen & ink. Inspired by life, but influenced by artists such as WAK, Charles Bibbs, Frank Morrison and my good friend Barbara Mason, there is so much in our daily living that just screams ‘put me to paper!’ and that is what I try to portray in my drawings. I believe creating art is creating communication; intellectual, emotional and even spiritual communication with the viewer. I believe Picasso said it best: "Art washes from the soul the dust of every day life." The process of what I do is not as important to me as the outcome, but the journey that the piece takes me on is very important, not only to its outcome but to my outcome as artist.
