BARRY MOTON

Roots, Reality and sCULpTURE

Bio Info

My Neo-Maché sculptures were first created in 1972 when I was eleven years old and living in the public housing projects of Peoria’s south side. Having been influenced by the scale of the GI Joe action figures from the early 1960’s, coupled with the geometrical shapes of Japanese paper fold art call Origami, Neo-Maché was born. Instead of hanging out with local hoodlums or even doing my studies in Miss Joseph’s 6th grade class, I opted to try and create figures out of the most economical and often times over looked resources available, paper and glue.
