Pen & Ink, Pencil, Nature Photography
I started doodling in grade school much to the annoyance of all my teachers. At least in high school I could continue my craft in art class. Advancing my education at Illinois Central College with a graphic design degree, I worked as a graphic designer for over 20 years. Most of those years were at PJS Magazine Publications in Peoria IL, working as an art director/graphic designer/photo stylist.
My “second career” began at Gregg Florist in Peoria IL, as a sales floor manager/designer in 1998. For six years I was in charge of sales floor displays, designed window displays, design silk arrangements and assisted customers with their floral needs.
Since 2006 I have embarked on my “third career” at Hoerr Nursery Peoria IL, as the merchandising manager/gift buyer. I am the buyer of all the products for the garden gift shop from giftware to pottery to fountains to birdbaths. Along with my wonderful talented team, we create and implement displays inside and outside.
In my younger years I created many art pieces as gifts for my friends and loved ones. As I got older and life got in the way, finding time to draw and paint became less and less. However when I did find time, art was an escape from the pressures of everyday life.
My subject interests lies in nature scenes, wildlife, flowers, photography, greeting cards using both art and photos and lately zentangle art. I prefer working in pen and ink, pencil/ color pencil. I also hope to rekindle my love of acrylic painting and watercolor.
Here at CAC, I hope to reconnect with my artistic side again. A space where I can go and let my creativity be expressed with fellow gifted artist in a wonderful inspiring atmosphere.
