I spent the first part of my career in music teaching and professional singing.
I taught voice and piano for many years and sang for two seasons with the Norman Luboff Choir. I became interested in art after taking a few courses for fun. My involvement in music performance offered me artistic re-creation rather than creation. I found in the visual arts a more creative process which I liked very much. I took many undergraduate courses in art and then I enrolled in the Master of Fine Arts degree program at Illinois State University and in 1988
received an MFA in art studio. Since that time I have been involved in metalworking and sculpture and more recently, painting.
I grew up in central Illinois and have lived either here or in Chicago for most of my life. I have a studio in downtown Bloomington, Illinois and am part of a large number of artists in the area.
Each year on the First Friday in November the Around The Corner Art Group located in Downtown Bloomington has an Art Walk to open our studios to the public for an evening. Other artists in the group are Herb Eaton, Angel Ambrose, Jeff Little, and Darin Dawdy. Some of our work can also be seen at Main Gallery 404 in downtown Bloomington which opened in 2008. The gallery shows the work of 43 local artists.
