Statement

“What’s that?”
“It’s something to make little boys ask questions.”

That is a bit of one of the conversations with my grandpa Eaton when I was a little boy asking nuisance questions. The answer stuck with me and largely guides my curiosity which shows in the things I create.

The little boy acquired several degrees and lots of experience but still asks himself nuisance questions. How does paint magically look like flowing water? How would my characters, He & She, dance? What would make the shape that just popped into my head? What sound would best tell the story of this song? The answers to my self can only be in the evidence I can share; a squiggle of paint, a cut in wood, a bend in steel, a momentary vibrato with my trombone.

Fortunately, other people have found these efforts worth having. Some have listened to me teach or make music, others have purchased my art, designs, and the things I make. I appreciate and am honored that they would want them in their life. This is what drives and affords me the opportunity to keep producing the answers to my nuisance questions.

Art work in public collections of Chugai-Upjohn Corporations, Sun Capital, the State of Illinois, St. Josephs Hospital, Bromenn Medical Center, and private collections locally and abroad.
