Painting, Mixed Media
Studio: Studios On Sheridan, 929 N. Sheridan Road, Peoria, IL 61606.
The favorite working surfaces I use are cradled wood panels and standard stretched canvases. I choose to work in acrylics for their fast-drying properties in particular, as well as the vast array of acrylic mediums that are available today.
My approach to the blank painting surface is varied – working abstractly in texture, and working at times with more recognizable visual features. Each fresh surface “talks” and presents a new challenge.
The work at times may include universal, archetype and analogous symbolism through gesture, color, texture, assemblage, and/or mixed media.
Creativity needs an open end to survive and grow, to keep hold the thread that connects us to the source - thus, the artist becomes the medium, the magician.
